Ms Linda Wolfe and Party

To celebrate our 25 years of wedded bliss, we decided to head to Bali.  Linda made the reservation using her email address, and therefore we were referred to Ms Linda and Party throughout the entire vacation.  Not sure Jeff liked being called "the party" (though from my perspective, life with him is a party!)

Bali is a beautiful island in the southern part of Indonesia with perfect white sandy beaches, warm water and hot weather.  Though only a few hours away from Manila, Bali currently is in their dry season and the warm breezes were a refreshing break from high humidity and high pollution.  Spoiling ourselves at the all-inclusive resort didn't hurt either!

A week of rest, sun, reading, eating and a couple of days of diving together was a perfect way to celebrate 25 years together.  We thought we would share some of the highlights with you....

The people of Bali have retained their culture - as you drive through the streets both genders are wearing the traditional sarong and there are Hindu temples of all sizes everywhere.  Bali has remained Hindu in a country very Islamic.  The island is full of fascinating culture, and our resort put on three night shows reflecting some of that.
The last show we saw, a love story, was about 45 minutes long and accompanied by a couple dozen men doing a variety of guttural chants....45 minutes without a break!  Have a look at this video of just a few moments to get an idea of how demanding it is.

The countryside is very beautiful

And one of Jeff's favourite creatures are everywhere:

We did our first wreck dive from the shore.  It was at the USS Liberty, a cargo ship that was torpedoed by the Japanese during WW II and then dragged to the shore to recover the cargo.  There it sat until the explosion of a volcano in 1963 pushed it into the ocean.  Since then it has become a reef and major tourist spot for divers.  It was amazing to dive through different parts of the ship and see new fish amongst the soft coral.  Enjoy these pictures......

And yes, we did have a romantic dinner on the beach.....

  1. Dear Ms Wolfe and Party: Congratulations on your 25th anniversary. What a wonderful experience to have the week in Bali to mark the ocasion. I presume you wrote a note of thanks to Manulife for making the trip there possible. I shudder to think of you crawling around a wrecked ship but to each his own. We are celebrating Dorothy's unexpectedly short stay in hospital when the doctor could not find the cancer he was looking for. It wasn't there! Praise God for his blessings.
